HGUC - RX-79[G] Ez-8 Gundam

The 08th MS Team; a gritty, realistic and very humid series depicting the ground forces in Southeast Asia. Sweat formed just watching the show, and I don't think it's because I actually live in Singapore.

The Ez-8 is charming in its lack of V-fins and almost full cream-ish white color scheme.

When the HGUC Ez-8 Gundam was announced, I was so excited for its release because the old Ez-8 Gundam kit was awful. Actually, I was the awful builder, resulting in an awful kit, and that's enough "awful" word for today.

As I get older and amass more kits, I become less interested in posing my kits dynamically. I love seeing kits posed in exciting action poses but somehow, trying to pull off these moves on top coated kits is kind of unpleasant, since there's that hidden fear of scratching the frame parts.

The kit can pull off some fantastic poses but you might want to check other reviews for that.

This kit was mostly OOB, some detailing using Gundam markers, followed by using the included stickers before being matte top coated with Mr Hobby Matte.

I remembered being eager to start the kit but quickly losing interest because I was stuck on the backpack. It had large seamlines running across the pack and it was so demoralizing trying to sand it all off that I just gave up and frankly, I forgot what happened to it. I might have wanted to paint that pack NATO Green but let's move on.

The old HG Ez-8 was probably my 3rd kit and as a newbie, I was way over my head, trying to use the Tamiya Weathering Set, resulting in the abomination above.

Regardless, you can see the improvements comparing the old and the new Ez-8 Gundam, and it is clear that the new kit is physically superior in every single way; proportions, design and details.

I don't have any Ground Gundam or Gouf Custom built, so this is the closest height comparison for now.
